Criminal Defense Careers

By Steve Valentino Criminal defense careers offer several exciting and rewarding positions in both public and private sectors. Employment options in any legal organization would depend upon the size of the firm, specialization, and expertise. Criminal defense lawyer or attorney can specialize in areas such as DUI, DWI, disorderly conduct, kidnapping, domestic violence, weapon crimes, felonies, murder, parole violations, arrest warrants, bail hearings, or summonses. However, a great deal of trial experience is required for any criminal defense lawyer. Most of the criminal defense lawyers work for prosecutor?s or public defender?s office. The attorneys can specialize in white collar criminal defense. Most of the large law firms consist of a white-collar criminal defense division. They can also work as solo practitioners. White collar criminal defense lawyers provide legal representation for corporate clients against regulatory boards such as the Securities and Exchange Commission or against the corporate crime division of the U.S. attorney's office. Besides crime issues, they can also specialize in embezzlement, price-fixing, fraud, bribery, and racketeering. White collar criminal defense attorneys charge relatively higher than that of large-scale civil litigation attorneys. The lawyers can also specialize in appellate law. Appellate attorneys can work in both private and government organizations. They spend most of their time in appellate research, presentation of oral arguments, and in the preparation of records and briefs. A wide range of appellate caseload is available in both state and federal courts. State appellate criminal defense attorneys can earn a government salary. Private lawyers engaged in appellate cases can earn a huge amount as salary. Most appellate attorneys will have either prior trial experience or clerking experience for a judge. Criminal Defense provides detailed information on Criminal Defense, Criminal Defense Attorneys, White Collar Criminal Defense, Criminal Defense Law and more. Criminal Defense is affiliated with San Diego Dui Laws. Become a Technical Writer and Earn a Great Living!

By Susan Bilheimer Would you like to earn steady, dependable income as a writer? If you answered yes, consider technical writing. It isn't sexy, and it won't make you famous. But working as a technical writer has provided me with an excellent, steady income, and greatly increased my creative writing skills. The field of technical writing is exploding, due to the need to keep up with advancing technology, so there are plenty of opportunities. After all, SOMEBODY has to write the instructions for all the products and services we use. And age is NOT an issue! I began my technical writing career in my 40s, and know plenty of technical writers who began in their 50s. In 2004, according to the Society for Technical Communication (from the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Outlook Handbook), the median annual salary for entry level technical writers was $42,500. The median annual salary for midlevel nonsupervisory technical writers was $51,500, and for senior nonsupervisory technical writers, $66,000. Rates for contractors are always higher at each level. In fact, I've earned as much as $38/hour. While you do need good writing skills and the ability to communicate instructions clearly to become a technical writer, you do not need a specialized degree or certification. And you can begin in this field at any stage of your life. While some technical writing jobs will be way above your skill level (Id never write a medical or legal manual, for instance), there are many types of documentation that may fit in with your own background (for instance, a former HR professional could write a Human Resources manual or a former accountant could write the documentation for a new Accounts Payable system). Here's the best news: more and more, technical writers telecommute ... every writer's dream. In fact, Ive worked remotely part-time or full-time since 2000. But don't get too excited yet. You will most likely have to earn this privilege by establishing your reputation first. So, how DO you break into the field? First, look at existing examples of technical writing, such as the Help section of programs you use, or even your car's owners' manual. You'll soon find that technical writing is simply documenting steps clearly. Next, think about instructional writing experience you may have. If you've never written instructional material, do some on your current job. Volunteer to write instructions on office procedures, a quick-start guide for the voicemail system, or a how-to article for the company newsletter. If you arent currently working, Ill bet you can get an opportunity if you offer to provide such services for free to a local business or non-profit organization. Next, rewrite your resume, adding in this new experience. (But ALWAYS be honest. Youll inevitably be tripped up if you dont. Its not worth the embarrassment.) You'll need two copies of your resume. One will be nicely formatted. You'll present this resume to potential employers or when you mail the resume. The other must be saved as text. This is the copy you'll place online. (TIP! Use asterisks [*] instead of bullets in the Text Only copy.) Next, the job hunt begins. Most job opportunities for technical writers are located online (see listings below), but newspaper Help Wanted sections are also a source. Check the online website for your local newspapers for jobs. Here are some suggested web sites: CareerBuilderMonsterDiceJobsearchComputerWorkGuru Since these are technology-oriented sites, entering "writer" in the search box will return technical writing jobs. Tip: You may even think about putting yourself on www.elance.com or even www.craigslist.com. Though there is a lot of competition, if your rates are reasonable enough, someone may just give you a chance. Many sites allow you to place your resume online. Be prepared to spend some time (about 45 minutes) filling out questions on the forms. Once your resume is online, it's very likely that you will receive calls or emails from recruiters requesting more information, and maybe an interview, even if you are just starting out! Remember, recruiters make money by getting you hired and are hungry to find good talent. So if you have writing talent, open your mind and increase your income by becoming a technical writer! Keep Your Dentures in Good Condition

By Charles Kassotis If you dont wear dentures currently, theres a good chance that you will at some future point. Millions of people around the world have been fitted with artificial dental plates, bridges, and other forms of denture appliances to make their smile more attractive and to help them eat more easily. Teeth help us to talk, to eat, and to express ourselves in a variety of situations, and without them may put us at a loss. That is why an average person may spend thousands of dollars to regain use of lost teeth by getting dentures. After getting your dentures, you dont want to forget about their care. It may be tempting to stop brushing if several teeth have been pulled and replaced by an artificial device. But you need to keep dentures clean and in good condition if you want them to last. Your dentist or hygienist will explain how to brush, soak, and otherwise clean your dentures when you receive them. There are several steps to be followed, and taking shortcuts may lead to stained, broken, or ill-fitting teeth that could become increasingly uncomfortable. 1. Use a dental adhesive to get your dentures to fit properly. Stuffing them into your mouth any old way can lead to sores or an improper fit, which could throw off your chewing and speech. Work with your dentures at first until you develop a routine for getting them into your mouth smoothly and easily. It wont take long, and the results will be worth it. If the adhesive irritates your mouth or doesnt work right, ask your dentist to recommend another product. He or she may be able to provide samples. 2. Brush your dentures daily. Use the toothpaste recommended by your dentist. Treat them as well as you would your original teeth. Then soak them in the suggested solution overnight unless you plan to wear them while sleeping. Be sure to rinse them thoroughly to remove excess toothpaste or soaking solution. Use mouthwash as needed for extra anti-bacterial assistance and oral freshness. 3. Report any problems to your dentist. If the dentures chip, bend, or otherwise get broken or warped, let your dentist know so they can be quickly repaired. Leaving them out of your mouth for more than a day or two may cause your mouth to regain its former position, which will make it difficult to start wearing the dentures again when they have been repaired or replaced. Also let the dentist know if you experience any sores, a bad taste, or other generalized problems with your mouth after you begin wearing dentures. Denture care is not difficult, but it needs to be practiced consistently for good results. Dont neglect any remaining original teeth you have, but rather give them great care to keep them as long as possible. Let your dentist know if you develop tooth sensitivity or discomfort that may signal a cavity. Heading off major problems can help your dentures to work more effectively and for longer periods of time. Why Have Guilt? Shelve It! Live Without Fear and Greed

By Prince Chugh What is guilt and why do we have it? This is a question of gravity and very often we get entangled in understanding its intricacies. The discomfort of our conscience is the guilt. Our conscience decides the ideals we choose to uphold in the course of life. When we perform any act, compromising on our ideal, the conscience feels uneasy. This suffocation of our veracity is the guilt. Guilt is an emotional experience just like happiness, sadness, anger or kindness. But it is possible to shelve this sinking experience of the conscience and thereafter live in peace eternally. PERSONAL CODE OF ETHICS To save ourselves the agonizing feeling of guilt, the simplest way is to set our principles so low that they never seem to be compromised. But this easy solution is not recommendable because intellectually we are on a much higher plane than the animals and should not retrograde ourselves to their level. The feeling of guilt is subjective, depending upon ones values in life. While one may have moral compunction on killing of a tiny insect, the other may not feel an iota of regret on murdering a fellow human being. But there are certain commandments against adultery, stealing, killing, etc which are common in all religions and for all individuals irrespective of their personal code of ethics. If we are even below these basic commandments then we are mere seed-bulls. JUDGEMENT OF ACTION In our lifetime we are invariably faced with the dilemma of choosing between right and wrong. How do we decide if an action is going to stifle our conscience or revitalize the soul? Motive is one criterion to judge our acts. Intention behind the act lends it the colour of black or white. When a philanthropist constructs a charitable hospital in expectation of public glory and acclaim, his donation ceases to be charity. His selfish motive changes the nature of his otherwise good deed. But motive alone does not determine the sanctity of an action. Means applied to further the motive are of equal import. The proponents of Robin Hood, the fictional character who believed in Rob Peter to pay Paul, justify his acts to shadow their own guilt. Swami Chinmayananda explains that Robin Hood did not distribute he looted and distributed. His motive lost its character because of the militant means he employed to fulfill his cause. Motive and means are interrelated because motive- the values you uphold in life, determine the quality of thoughts; the quality of thoughts determine in turn the quality of actions. CAUSE OF GUILT The cardinal question still remains what forces us to indulge in actions that cause guilt and heartache? The inevitable answer is GREED. The insatiable avarice of the senses captures even the wise unawares. Man is a round the clock production house of desires. As one desire is satisfied the other rises. We are blessed with the senses because God wanted us to enjoy the beauty and charms of His majestic creation. But leaving the senses without reins in the marathon of desires has cataclysmic results. Our eyes gaze beautiful forms, tongue savours good taste, skin demands comforting softness. The senses are doing their natural course while seeking the pleasure, but unrestrained gluttony of sensual gratification is uncalled for. No religion preaches renouncement of the world and its pleasures. Self-denial of the senses is unnatural and not to be followed. When we suppress our natural instincts, there is a growing frustration and curiosity. And as they say, curiosity kills the cat, the quashed desires suddenly erupt like a volcano and cause debauchery which later leads to a tormenting conscience. Our preceptors said, Enjoy the world, but let not the world enjoy you. However, our greed for wealth, luxury and carnal gratification is ever increasing. The sybaritic behavior has caused pervasive decadence. Our desire for instant happiness blinds us to the remorse we shall experience in the long term. Letting our senses overpower our intellect will sooner or later only result in nothing but compunction. A robber robs because he has cupidity for money. As long as he evades the cops he does not bother about the wrong. Though he is always aware that stealing is wrong, he does not feel guilty because the negative consequences of doing it escape his mind. But the day he is caught and incarcerated for lifetime he wails, Why did I do it? FEAR OF PENALTY Is it only the fear of punishment that can keep our greed under check? Like they Spare the rod and spoil the child. If this being true, the robber would never experience guilt pangs if he were never caught. But sooner than later our Eternal Father does justice to all. It does not imply that He is a merciless God who believes in an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. He is a well of love and compassion, an embodiment of forgiveness and mercy. But he shall be ignorant and nave who mistakes his forgiveness for His weakness. When we commit an iniquity and are honestly repenting, we take solace in Gods love and ask for forgiveness. Asking for forgiveness entails a tacit promise to God that I shall not repeat the unworthy act. When the heart is overcome by guilt of your misdeed, the plea for mercy makes its way straight to the Gods heart. And the magnanimous God is bound to give you another chance. But if you break the sacred oath and repeat the wrong, it simply means you never felt guilty for your acts and the greed of senses still dominates you. Fear not God, for He is love But fear is wrath, if you ashamed his love MODERATION IS THE SOLUTION The sure way to free the conscience from the distress of guilt is to learn contentment. MODERATION is the sure shot way to shelve guilt and live without greed of materialism and fear of retribution. An absolute and abrupt denial of worldly pleasures leads to rancor and cynicism in life, however incessant indulgence in temporal pleasures can pull a man down to the nadir animalism. Temperateness in character gives a tranquil mind and a calm body, which connects, readily to the ever-ecstatic soul. Free the mind of greed and fear, and it loosens the conscience from the claws of guilt. A liberated soul is a harbinger of joy untold. http://www.mindbodynsoul.com Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Prince_Chugh http://EzineArticles.com/?Why-Have-Guilt?-Shelve-It!-Live-Without-Fear-and-Greed&id=94863 phentermine diet pills by cod mail order phentermine buy phentermine site phentermine without prescription mastercard

A Good Lemon Law Lawyer To Take You All The Way

By Kevin Bishop Don't let that sweet-talking manufacturer lead you up the garden path where your rights are concerned. Violation of consumer rights is a serious offence these days and you have every right to stake your claim when stuck with a "lemon". When you are seeking justice for your "lemon" piece of automobile, it is always worthwhile to hire the services of an efficient lemon law lawyer. Okay, don't shrink. It is true that a lemon law lawyer will be a pinch on your pocket, but you can be sure that he will save you a lot of costly legal hassles in the long run. Furthermore, there are many lemon lawyers who don't even charge you anything until you win the case. A lemon law lawyer is the best person around to consult. He is the one to guide you through the entire process of claiming and protecting the consumer's interests. Your vehicle is classified as a "lemon" only after you and the manufacturer have explored and exhausted all the avenues of fixing it within a specified period of time. There have been instances when even though the vehicle did not fall under lemon law, a skilled lemon lawyer had been able to clinch a handsome compensation or even a replacement on grounds of breach of warranty. If the frightened manufacturer is pestering you to go for an out-of-court settlement, consult your lemon law lawyer on whether this will abide by the rules of the Federal Trade Commission. There are statewide variations in lemon laws and in some states, it is essential that you go through a mediation procedure to be able to sue under the lemon law. It is only a skilled and knowledgeable lemon law lawyer who will be able to guide you through these intricacies of lemon laws. By far the most obvious advantage of soliciting the help of a lemon law lawyer is that he is well versed in the ways and the tricks of the trade. The manufacturer will leave no stone unturned to deceive you and have you dancing to his tunes. A lemon law lawyer is just the perfect person to have around during these times, as he will know exactly what the manufacturer has on his mind and play his cards accordingly. A lemon lawyer is just the person to file the lawsuit for you. These are legal formalities that involve a lot of complexities and it is best that you let someone well up in the ins and outs of law to do the paperwork for you. A good lemon lawyer knows that it is best to remain under the jury system of trial, which normally has a soft spot with the claimant who is stuck with a car making all the wrong noises. When you are going in for a lemon law lawyer, it is best to check his credentials and experience. A lawyer with say two decades of experience in tackling lemon law cases is definitely worth his salt many times over than the greenhorn who is fresh out of college. Lemon laws differ by the state so if you are living in Wisconsin, it is always a good idea to hire the help of a lemon lawyer who has the Wisconsin lemon laws at the tip of his fingers. There is just no need to knock the doors of a New York-based lawyer. A good lemon law lawyer is your only way out when you have a lemon stalled in your garage and want to glean something out of the notoriously stingy and unyielding car manufacturer. POWERFUL Homemade Fishing Baits - Reasons Why YOUR Baits Really Work

By Tim F. Richardson * It is extremely valuable to discover as many true reasons why baits and all their ingredients work; and how to maximize their effects for the most unbelievable catches. * If you regularly use, pellets, or boilies, or dough baits etc, how much do you really know about how these really attract fish to take your hook? I think it's sad that most anglers do not give their bait the thought it really deserves and most often, the 'average angler' just copies what his friend or the most successful angler along the bank is using. Or he uses whatever favourite fashionable shop-bought bait happens to be en vogue at the time. To me this is completely missing the point about effective bait! Its role has changed since fishing became so commercially and the thinking of anglers became conditioned and 'warped' by the power of powerful advertising - telling us Our new pellet or boilie bait, or this new packbait is the best - it has caught 50 lake records! Then the following month a completely different bait, a new addition to their products range is introduced, and forcefully marketed! It is no surprise that many anglers feel confused, and spend their hard earned money on the next best thing whatever it is; the amount of manipulation is staggering! Obviously there are multitudes of reasons why baits work - one of the strongest is the availability of 'easy energy'. In this case bait merely supplements the carp's natural diet; it's for this reason that any nonnutritional bait will dominate a water if it is fed in masses of kilograms, perhaps by the majority of anglers that fish the water. Even the notoriously angling pressured bait oriented big carp and catfish fish water "Darenth" in the UK, was absolutely torn apart by a simple semolina and soya flour bait. This bait was made by a commercial bait manufacturer and purchased at the lake by very many of the anglers fishing the lake. This bait's easy availability and continual abundance in this lake, made it work so very well on this water especially. Within one season at least a tonne of this carbohydrate based, flavour attractor type bait was bought and fed in the lake! The manufacturer told me this himself. However, as fish wised up to this bait, catches dropped, and then there were anglers who simply followed this current bait 'fashion' and had no-where to go, and starting 'blanking' in style! Some have never caught like it since then, and blame every reason except their bait. With genuine knowledge of how and why baits really do their work, this situation can never happen. There are waters that have seen practically every productive commercial boilie and pellet style bait ever made. Mostly catches on these baits seem especially cyclical depending on numbers of anglers using these. At any one moment in time, most fish caught, will appear to result from the use of one particular bait or method and very frequently, this is purely due to the fact that most anglers are using that bait / method! Surely the whole point of bait as a concept is to create a safe hook delivery mechanism. So many people forget the difference in quantities of baits fed by anglers, especially in the UK and European waters now far exceed that in fed into fishing waters in the past. The great increase in anglers and the practice of actively baiting-up their swims as part of the modern carp fishing method has massively multiplied and exaggerated the effects of fishermens baits. (Mass baiting a swim with far more than just half a pint of boilies, or pellets as free offerings is simply another method is it not?) In the case of overstocked waters, hopefully baits with no harmful side effects, (and preferably health promoting effects,) are eaten with confidence. But are they? Even with the balanced food baits or old concept of high nutritional baits ('HNV') style baits; it's the same mission; to deliver a hook into a fishs mouth. (And not to give the fish various expensive baits with optimum nutrition values for the sake of their 'health.') Are not anglers baits specifically meant to hook fish, and only incidentally supplement the carps natural diet so promoting fish growth gains? Only on unbalanced waters like those that are well overstocked for the volume of water available, that perhaps some bait dependence sets in and natural growth and weight gains are exaggerated. (Obviously, anglers like this artificial produced situation on heavily fished waters, because the fish they catch just keep getting bigger, artificially faster, which is certainly a continuing egos boost for the captors! I have tested baits on pressured bait oriented waters and hooked big fish immediately on new baits. Carp instinctively are drawn towards baits that exploit their own 'food' detecting receptors - especially those positive for proteins, minerals, vitamins and saccharide sweeteners for example. Notably, carp are especially sensitive to sensing amino acids signals via receptor sites all around their bodies, using at least 4 different specialized neural networks in this process. Any bait you use could hook a fish immediately, if it stimulates a confident feeding or even curiosity response, and there are thousands of permutations of baits and lures all round the world for doing this! Your bait does not necessarily need any particular individual ingredient to be successful. A bait that has been given no flavour, no protein, no oil source, no additives etc, will still produce bites in the right fishing situation. For example, the use of plastic sweetcorn! Anglers dont need to be too scientifically technical to make great productive baits. But it is a massive advantage to really understand how your baits affect carp or catfish in specific ways, to stimulate the most dramatic immediate feeding response. This is knowledge is true fishing enlightenment because it can convert into far better catches. Most anglers do not know or care how their baits tempt and catch their fish. This presents a real opportunity for those curious enough to find out and exploit these secrets for maximum effect! Great power comes with developing an awareness of the broad 'alternative opportunities for making different baits that really catch fish; because they are different to the norm, and also perhaps stimulate a fish in slightly unusual youre Your bait might work either instantly while actually fishing, or after a period of pre-baiting with free baits in advance. Baits can be so vastly different in the way they are recognised as food and in how they can trigger a search and feeding response whether carp, trout, catfish, or bass. For example I persisted in fishing using one version of a homemade bait, which I believed would work extremely well on a particularly hard fished pressured water. But this bait did not even produce a bite for 7 separate individual nights spread over a period of 7 weeks! Just as I had nearly given-up faith, I free fed 7 kilograms of this boilie bait, at the start of the last night of fishing, to see if much more bait was really required for a response in this lake. It was also the very last of this homemade batch that I had made so I was puzzled by this stage by the lack of fish caught. Previously I had only been feeding free baits while actually fishing; with 2 kilograms of bait at the start of a nights fishing session. Well that penultimate night the fish finally got the 'message.' Some of the lakes biggest carp succumbed to this failure bait that night! Tactics for very big waters and smaller waters need to differ - because often your baits absolutely need to pull fish from extreme distances. I have found that some ingredients do this far more powerfully than others, and it is the mechanism of how this works that is significant to success. Otherwise its often the old routine, of finding actual or likely feeding spots and regularly baiting those areas, until the fish get in the habit of visiting with the purpose of eating your bait if they ever do! This can take more time and fishing bait to test different areas, than you may have available. It really helps to understand far more about 'why' baits make fish behave the way they do. Like most anglers, I have used shop-bought baits of many kinds and there are many benefits of this habit. (But there are definite disadvantages too.) In the UK the very biggest carp or catfish often get caught on the most frequently heavily baited areas, even if they have long since been eaten out of natural food. (Where the fish would normally have moved on to regularly feed elsewhere.) In this situation, a complete beginner using a commonly used shop-bought bait, can cast to the vicinity of this spot and get beginners luck in the form of the lakes biggest resident! With using shop-bought though thing can just become too easy and catch numbers orientated rather than in appreciating and enjoying the fishing process. One of the major disadvantages is the fact we lose some aspect of the joy of fishing that comes from catching your personal best fish, time and time again, on baits you designed and made yourself. (And knowing why they worked successfully!) Sure, it is a busy world, and it takes time to experiment with making bait, but fishing is an art form and a passion and not just a results orientated sport. Very many bait-making anglers are more successful than average anglers. They know it pays great dividends to make records and give close attention to every detail that could give them an edge. This is not so much about achieving results; but how they are achieved. These lucky anglers reaps rewards in terms of satisfaction that cannot be measured! We all go fishing to enjoy it, so why not enjoy it even more; and actually gain far more control over your catches and increase your personal satisfaction by discovering more, how your bait influences fish behaviour and responses. If only you know how your personal bait works, and what ingredients you are using; your bait won't 'blow' because everyone else is using it! I find catching on a shop-bait to be far less exciting, and OK they may catch fish, but how much more have learnt and enjoyed the experience? It is just as important to understand the reasons why you dont catch fish, as why you do! I know that just one scientific insight or scientific new nutritional revelation can improve an individual angler's catches and often, the size of fish caught too! Dont we owe it to ourselves to understand more? After all, we get what we give! Of course, on the great rivers and lakes in the States, Canada, or Europe, there are many waters that are so vastly stocked and so little fished, (especially for carp) that any bait will catch fish of various sizes! The key to very big catches of large numbers of fish, (and therefore perhaps, greater numbers of bigger fish,) is then solely determined by the length of time those fish remain feeding in your swim before moving on. It would take too much money to hold them with dough baits, boilies or even pellets, except for the wealthiest fishermen. Even when using maize as chum free bait, there is a physical limit to the amount of kilograms of maize you can physically feed a swim with, in order to hold a large number of carp in your swim, while fishing for them. With such intense activity, angler exhaustion is inevitable! Waters of the opposite extreme contain highly educated fish. This has resulted fish by being caught by anglers over long years, in a highly pressured angling environment. As in pay lakes, syndicate lakes, and other commercial waters run for a profit. This is truly where homemade baits, knowledge, and understanding of how your own bait works is and added edge. Knowing how best to leverage and apply it correctly, in direct response to what the majority are doing, is a major advantage. I am not against shop-baits, these are allowing instant anglers the opportunity to sample the delights of catching very big fish. But it is sad how the easy availability of products can induce a conditioned expectation of great results for very little effort input, where everything can be bought off the shelf. In contrast, the greatest appreciation and satisfaction in any endeavour are actually earned. Average angling ability, knowledge, tackle and the methods used to catch fish, can be very similar, when compared among the fishermen at any single water. But bait knowledge can be a huge edge. Consistently producing above average catches of big fish for the minority angler, who is better educated and really knows how to exploit bait and apply it creatively. The author has many more fishing and bait edges up his sleeve. Every single one can have a huge impact on catches. (Warning: This article is protected by copyright.) By Tim Richardson. Fishing The Henry's Fork....With Jack Karpawack

By A.J. Klott Jack Karpawack here. Well, as I suspected, there was no high speed internet available from my "YURT" on the Henry's Fork. So, I am back in the friendly confines of Southern Oregon ready to give you some recent fishing reports from the famed Henry's Fork of the Snake River... ...Pulled into Last Chance, Idaho on Monday afternoon.A hot and dry July 18th. An extensive search of the "nine or so" existing businesses in Last Chance, left me in quite a quandry.Or was it a quagmire?? I'm not sure. Anyway. Which of the four fly fishing/ outfitter shops should I go into first for information, a license, and a lightening of my wallet. Actually, it was five choices if you count the general store==or six if you count the "Angler's Lodge- which also has a fly shop.Heck, who knows the restaurant and the remaining businesses may have carried fiahing gear also!! At least my keen sense of business tells me that a fish or two must have been caught in this area.Either that, or the largest black market fly tying operation is run out of this "bump in the road" here in Idaho. Like "Goldilocks" I look at one shop and decide it is too hot! (large) Another is too cold! (has the Orvis name and a yuppie feel to it) The other is juuust right! --O.K.-- I know that leaves a couple other shops, but stick with me here-- it's just a story cowboy!! I wander in and it feels right--small and unassuming--nothing to intimidate me so far. "Hi, can I help you." Now that's a good start. "Yes, I need to get a license, some info, and some flies." "In exchange. you may have this wallet stuffed with twenty dollar bills." "Fair enough." said the young employee. "How's the river fishing?" I ask, waiting for the usual- 'we are knocking them dead' reply. "Actually, kinda slow. A few fish in the early morning and some hatches coming off late in the evening." "How about Henry's Lake?" "Bigger fish-but about the same." "O.K., well how about giving me about half a dozen patterns to try on the river, and a couple patterns for the lake." He is more than happy to do this, and gets me set up with a couple different leeches for the lake, and some rubber legs and bead headed droppers for the river. I have plenty of different sizes of pale morning duns, caddis and callabaetis patterns, so I am pretty set for and drys in the evening. He tells me that the railroad ranch is fishing pretty good in the evening and that Box Canyon is the place I should try some nymphing in the morning. He even points out a spot on the map for me! Now that's service. I am feeling pretty good as I head for the door with minimal damage afflicted on my bank account, and more information than I expected to get--but then I spot the 40% off rack. Seventy-five dollars later, I am back in my truck heading for my first rendevous with the famed Henry's Fork... To be continued... A.J. Make Every Day A Mother's Day!

By Angela Renee The word mother and mothers day are simple, yet powerful little words that you hear all the time especially so around the time of mothers day when everyone seem to be scrambling for ideas to say thank you, you are surely loved and you are appreciated all over again. But if you would just take time out, you would realize that useful hints were probably being dropped all alone and throughout the year. In fact, with that special day being only a few weeks away, some of your thoughts at this time can range anywhere from what are you going to do for your mother, spouse or other loved one to should it be a product gift or something more personal. If it is the product route, how can it be made more personalized? If it is the gift of time, how can it be made more personal? Mothers Day for some will be welcomed with feelings of excitement while for others it may be a day of mixed feelings especially so if the mother you will honor has lost a child to tragedy. So that is why whenever you wish to honor someone in your own little way, you should consider where that person may be in their life and then the event. Many people say that it's the thought that counts and yes that's a very good point but so is too know a person and mother's day is no exception. To give you some examples, consider a single mother who's been struggling to raise her children and doing it all alone in every sense of the word, what would make her day on mother's day? What about a seventy-two year old mother who has raised her children but suddenly took on the new responsibilities of raising her grand children, what would she possibly want or deserve? Sure a bouquet of flowers or some other last minute gift would be nice and probably get you off the hook but what would that mother really want to do for that special day? Would she want to spend her day filled with family and special friends or have a day of being responsibility free? If you were in that person's shoes, which would you hope that someone would honor you with for mother's day? You see mothers day or any other day can be made more personal when you put some careful thought into your gift idea. What else would that mother enjoy? What has she wanted to do for a long time? What has she not gotten to experience in her lifetime? How can you really show her she is appreciated? Even a gift that is accompanied with a carefully written letter or note with meaning can put a smile on a mother's face! Yes, I know this will not work for all moms but that's why in the article it says that YOU need to really know that person. So please just remember it really is the thought that counts especially when you did take some time out to put some thought into your mother's day gift. Oh, one last thing, I invite you to help every day become a Mother's Day. By the way moms, it is ok to drop hints about how you would like to spend your special day and with hope, your spouse, partner, or other loved one will graciously honor your small request. After all, mother's day on the calendar only comes once a year. Wooing Women With Packaging

By JoAnn Hines In just one month three California vineyards have introduced new wine product lines specifically targeted to women. The product offerings are intriguing with names such as White Lie and "Mad Housewife" to the latest introduction "Working Girl White." These wine companies are responding to the message: A wine just for women. Interestingly, all three wines have different product approaches. From clever white lies on the corks, to retro chic on the bottle graphics each has its own unique appeal. What's the driver behind this new product offering? Quite simply, it is the demographics. Women either make or influence 85% of the purchasing decision and companies are finally waking up to that fact. Unfortunately, just taking the man off the box and replacing it with a woman isn't the answer. Nor is it to use pink packaging or other feminine colors. So what do women really want in their product packaging? What will entice them to pick your product off the shelf? What siren screams "buy me" as she walks down the isle? The answers are not what you might think. Women perceive products differently than their male counterparts. They have different expectations of products. Women say that they product manufactures don't understand their wants and needs either. In fact 59% of women feel misunderstood by food marketers. This market segment accounts for 60-70 of all product packaging. So, how do you get this powerful consumer to connect with your packaging? First, see the product though the woman's eyes not the designers or brand managers. In my recent research, product attributes such as the shape and color were important to people in the packaging industry but not so important to the average consumer. The mostly highly rated characteristics that both groups agreed upon were convenience, ease of storage, and female friendly elements such as the size of package and handles for carrying. Second, consider how and where the product will be purchased. External factors can influence the purchasing decision as to how and where a woman shops. Recent studies show that women on average no longer make a big stocking up trip" to the store. In fact they make numerous short trips to get the essentials for the moment. Today's shoppers are under tremendous time constraints and are willing to pay a premium for the privilege of more free time. Finally, it is imperative to get noticed. How can you grab their attention? Make packaging simple, easy to read, and use. Get rid of the gimmicks and the hype. More than 89% of survey respondents said they would not purchase a product because it was endorsed by a celebrity, and those that did were embarrassed to admit it. Cause marketing also scored low on the scale of importance in influencing a purchase as did their concern for the environment. So listen to your female buyers the next time you designee a new product, bond with them on an intrinsic level not through gimmicks or the current "in" celebrity. Make your product easy to read, use and time sensitive. By adhering to these fundamentals you will have garnered her attention. Got packaging problems? I can help. I teach people how to package products consumers will buy. I make it easy to answer your problems with email and voice consultation. Get advice from the top expert in consumer packaging.
